Why the name Donna M?  Well, it is because my last name is hard to pronounce and people are always spelling it wrong, so my clients and friends have always referred to me as Donna M.  Therefore I thought it appropriate to give my business that name.  It makes life so much easier!

.At Donna M Internet Marketing, we focus on making you visible through Facebook, Google Search (SEO) and Google Places.

You have a website, but when a potential customer searches for your product or service on the internet,  your chances of being found on the first page of Google is slim.  It’s like doing a “Where’s Waldo?” search… and you are Waldo!

So ask yourself?  Can people find me?

Donna M Internet Marketing provides personal service to help get you found on the internet.

Google’s focus has become LOCAL, so making sure that you have your Google Places page FULLY optimized is key, or you will find that you will no longer be in the front page Google Maps section. Yikes!  We build your listing, and work to get your business visible.  Trust me, this is way more involved than claiming your listing.

Search is SOCIAL, so you need to be communicating with your clients and partners and being seen in the social search.  With more and more people are asking their friends for advice on products and services, you need to have a professional image on Facebook with a Professional Business Page (which is separate from your personal account).  Use Facebook to drive traffic to your own website.

The Great Search – Using Google to Get New Customers

67% of search users have replaced the phone book with local internet search  ~ comScore Networks

A consumer types in what they want and they are given options.  If they type in exactly what you do and you are not there, then they are going to your competition.

Did They Find You?

Last month over 14,8000 hungry people typed “best Toronto restaurants” into Google. If they found you, you don’t need us–In fact, you are the competition we’re trying to unseat!

Or, are you a lawyer in Oakville?  There were over 1,900 searches for a lawyer.  Were you found?

How about a dentist is Mississauga?  Over 6,000 searches for you

But, if they didn’t find you, there’s a good chance we can help.

How Do You Compete?

1.      You have to get in front of the person who is looking for you.

2.      Then you have to engage that person to contact you.

What does the mean?

1.      Be there!  Get found.

2.      Once found, you need a strong call to action.

It’s simple really, all you want to do is be in front of the people who want to hire you!  …but it is not easy to get there.  It takes work, time, patience, commitment and money.

Ranking high in local search results has become the most consistent and cost effective manner to attract a steady stream of customers 365 days of the year.

So…What do we do?

We work with local business by helping them get prime visibility on Google so that they will receive more customers and clients.  In other words, our goal is to get you in front of those who are looking for your products.

Facebook Business Pages

Facebook Business Pages are BIG BUSINESS.  If you don’t already have your business on Facebook then you are missing out on sales.

One reason that people are hesitant on using Facebook business pages because they believe that strangers will have access to their personal profile.  They don’t.

Here’s why you want a Facebook buiness page – because your Page can spread quickly between friends!  When someone “Likes” your Business Page (let’s say Joe), all of Joes’s friends on Facebook receive a notification telling them that your site is liked by Joe.  That is a great recommendation.

The average person on Facebook has over 200 friends.  So only one person of the 200 goes to your site and likes it, then it will spread to their friends!

The key to Facebook Business Pages is to have a great landing page and great content.

Google Places | Why You Need to Yours Optimize NOW!

You need to do MORE than claim your Google Places listing.  You need to optimize it in order to get onto the map AND to stay on the map!

Are you in the Google Maps “Magic 7 Box”?  You need to be seen there and it’s our job to get you there!

So you’ve claimed your listing, put in a few photos and added some company information.  Done? Absolutely NOT.

You still have work to do…and regular monthly work to do, to be at the top of the Maps listing.

You are already at the top?  Don’t sit idle because your competiton is waking up and has started to optimize their site, trying to take over your top spot in the map box.

You need to …OPTIMIZE…GET REVIEWS… and build CITATIONS, each and every month!

Most people who are looking for businesses start with an online search.  Most of those searches are for local businesses.  Google knows this, and as such, has focused on making the search results more relevent for the users.  Using the maps,  helps potential clients find you.

So…Google created a Google Places page for most local businesses.  Some people have claimed their Google Page, but others have not.

After working in the internet marketing realm for a number of years, we noticed that there are some inconsistencies in Google with respect to  with the Maps or Page listings.  Why are some businesses showing up who have not claimed their page, have no reveiws and no citations?  Why are some of these site ranking better than sites that DO have optimzed places pages?

The answer is that Google hasn’t finished cleaning house with all of the business listings.  And when they do, these businesses will fall off of the radar and into the back reaches of page 100!

Many people where told to…

  1. Claim their Listing
  2. Add Photos
  3. Get Reviews

Well let me tell you, it’s not that simple!

Let’s have a closer look…

  1. Claiming a listingDid you know that ANYONE can claim YOUR Google Places listing?  Yes, that even means that your competition can claim your listing.  They can leave it with no content, no links, no citations.  Or worse, there could be erroneous content.
  2. Add Photos/Videos – Yes, you can pop on a photo or video, but then you have to make sure that you have done your tags, geo-tags and links properly.
  3. Reviews – Are you actively encouraging your clients to provide reviews?  Are you responding and managing your reputation?  You need at least 5 reviews before the stars light up, and many, many more to keep in the map box.  Reveiws are BIG.  Google even searches other review sites to find out more about you!
  4. Citations – The guru’s don’t tell you about citations.  That is geek talk for ensuring that your company information is in lots of places (relevant places) on the internet.  If your competitor has 25 citations, you better build 50 in order to be in the game.

BUT WAIT…why are there some companies who have not claimed their listing, have no photos, video or other content and has not been building citations and they ARE in the map box.  Well don’t worry, Google is working on it.

Google is making a lot of changes.  In 2011 alone, Google made over 400 changes to their algorithm.  They are trying to clean things up.  So the business who take the time now to optimize their Places page, will have a serious advantage over those who are sitting back and waiting.

The key is to start NOW.  Do it PROPERLY.
